I'll start the ball rolling, I've had a chat with my members who worked at this years show and asked for their feedback on areas that could be looked at to help improve the 2013 show. This post is in the suggestion box category and that's exactly what the following information is suggestion and by no means criticism.
4wd test track
Lack of Direction (where to queue)
Child Safety restraints, Children under 3years should be in booster seats, babies should be in capsules this would prove to be near impossible to manage (look at using a height stick like at theme parks to set a minimum height).
Association area.
Need communication from the tent area
Better Organization of volunteers
Show hosts need information (maps + Identification)
Where practical get all volunteers to the show area a week before the show (host a BBQ) explain what will happen at the show.
Have section volunteer coordinators or give clubs a choice of an area they are happy to look after for the duration of the show.
Parcel pickup area
Bigger undercover area with a front counter to stop public serving themselves
Store holders to use the same systems, raffle tickets or a sticker system or at least names to be written in black marker pen
Better flow of parking at parcel pickup, also need better entry and exit points from parcel pickup area.
General
Engel Stage needs a show time board with the correct show times on it
Better disable parking
Buses or trams needed to get public in and out also need to keep cars and people separated on entry road.
Ticket system to slow, (comments heard “shows great once you get in the gate”) more than once
cheers

Thanks Lee
We have started to work on next year’s show already and I brought up your suggestion with the tractor train and it was thought to be a great idea.
With the handicapped parking we are looking at having a couple of options available so we don't get bogged down in one area.
Prepaid tickets went offline for a day this year and caused a backup, this should be fixed for next year.
Parcel pickup was about ten times busier this year than last year, so yep we need to get a handle on that before the next one.
With the volunteers and how we deal with them next year I will leave that for now as I have some thoughts but I am thinking we should have a group of people working this out so we can really provide a better system for our people and make a visit to the show more enjoyable for our guests.
Have fun

I think this was a signage issue more than anything, toddlers & below should be excluded, the RTA has weight/height restrictions that dictate was child has to be in what type of restraint, for Insurance purposes I highly suggest this be strictly adhered to for next year incase of an incident ie: roll over, I know this is extremely unlikely but I have seen the simpliest things go terribly wrong

I think a map of the exhibitors should be with every volunteer, many punters asked directions, I volunteered to help Tony next year with volunteers, it IS to much for just one bloke to do it all, I believe at least 2 people under Tony to take the load, more radios are needed, our club has 2 good hand helds, I am sure there are more in other clubs

I had nothing to do with it this year so cannot comment, apparently 1000% better than last year

Trains are the go, this will help out with the disabled issue aswell, in fact it would do it greatly, park all disabled next to the ticket area & a volunteer dedicated to sitting them on it, the train or buggys can be dedicated to this as needed via radio call up & used on the other punters inbetween for mothers, older that 47's lol, people with large boxes etc as it was used last year. pre-purchase tickets needs more promoting & did save some of the line ups, you do need more than 5 tills in the morning at the ticket tent, perhaps 8 tills would be far more affective till about 1-2 pm, this car park can be monitered & more disabled vehicles can be sent down from the round-about, again via radio
I think a dedicated spruker is required aswell, someone that is big on the chat, calling out exhibitor specials, exhibitor locations, food & drink locations
cheers
